This is a volunteer position in a national 501(c)3 civilian community service organization. There is no pay/salary for this position. ***The Assistant Public Affairs Officer- Social Media Specialist: * Collects & creates innovative items on the squadron's members and activities to publish for its followers. * Assists the Public Affair Officer in managing all social media interactions for the squadron. * Develops and intimate knowledge of CAP's rules and policies (at the national and wing level) regarding social media. * Ensures that all media items posted to the squadron's social media outlets have been approved for publication at the wing level. * Ensures that the dignity and image of Civil Air Patrol is maintained while providing interesting and topical posts to our followers. ***Benefits of Civil Air Patrol: * Join a group of Professional Volunteers who take pride in their service by always seeking excellence, not perfection. (www.gocivilairpatrol.com) * Be completely knowledgeable and competent in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat, and the like. * Complete Civil Air Patrol's Training Leaders of Cadets course within 12 months. * While not required, some form of military experience is a plus. * Be comfortable with the basic office suite of computer applications. * Work cohesively in a team environment. * Be able to attend at least 2 meetings per month. ***NOT Required: * Pilot - A majority of roles in Civil Air Patrol do not require a pilot's license. * Flying - A majority of roles in Civil Air Patrol do not require one to fly; although there are opportunities to train as a non-pilot flight crew member if interested. --- Our squadron meets weekly on Monday evenings 6:45pm-9:00pm. CAP is made up of eight geographic regions consisting of 52 wings (the 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia).
